Association of early administration of furosemide with improved oxygenation in patients with acute heart failure
ESC Heart Failure Jun 19, 2021
Mikami T, Ishii M, Yamamoto N, et al. - In this study, the relationship between door-to-furosemide time, improved oxygenation, and in-hospital mortality in patients hospitalized for acute heart failure (AHF) was explored. For the analysis, 494 patients hospitalized for AHF were screened in Miyazaki Prefectural Nobeoka Hospital. The study enrolled AHF patients who were treated with intravenous furosemide within 24 h of arrival at the hospital. The primary endpoint included the rate of improved oxygenation at Day 1. In-hospital mortality and cardiac death were considered as secondary endpoints. The results demonstrate that in AHF patients, the early administration of furosemide was correlated with improved oxygenation.
