JAMA Nov 12, 2019
Yang JJ, Yu D, Xiang YB, et al. - Researchers performed a pooled analysis involving > 1.44 million individuals from the United States, Europe, and Asia in order to determine whether habitual consumption of dietary fiber (the main source of prebiotics) or yogurt (a probiotic food) affects the risk of lung cancer. They found that high consumption of dietary fiber or yogurt were individually linked to reduced lung cancer risk, independent of known risk factors. They concluded that a synergistic association of fiber and yogurt intake with the risk of lung cancer may exist.
