Association of corrugator supercilii and procerus myectomy with endoscopic browlift outcomes
JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery Sep 26, 2019
Starkman SJ, et al. - Given that upper facial aging has glabellar wrinkling as a critical component, researchers examined if improved outcomes could be achieved with the addition of corrugator and procerus myectomy to browlift procedures. In this prospective cohort comparative trial, a single surgeon performed browlift procedures on 23 patients (16 with glabellar muscle resection and 7 without muscle resection; mean age: 60 years (range, 48-74 years); 21 women, and 2 men) at a single institution. Observations revealed superior glabellar wrinkle reduction in correlation with the browlifts with muscle resection vs the browlifts without muscle resection. Outcomes thus support the incorporation of the corrugator and procerus myectomy in browlift procedures to achieve improved aesthetic outcomes in the glabellar region.
