Association of conventional cardiovascular risk factors with cardiovascular disease after hypertensive disorders of pregnancy: Analysis of the Nord-Trøndelag Health Study
JAMA Cardiology Jul 23, 2019
Haug EB, et al. - In this investigation involving 23,885 parous women, researchers quantified the excess risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women with a history of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) and estimated the proportion correlated with conventional cardiovascular risk factors. Blood pressure and body mass index have been correlated with up to 77% of the excess CVD risk in women with HDP history, whereas glucose and lipid levels were related to lower proportions. According to findings, the risk of excess CVD in women with HDP history has been linked to conventional cardiovascular risk factors, indicating that these risk factors are important cardiovascular prevention targets in these women.
