Robson ME et al. -Women with unilateral breast cancer are at risk of developing a subsequent contralateral breast cancer. Whether or not common genetic variants influence contralateral breast cancer risk is unknown. In the current study, common genomic variants associated with the development of first primary breast cancer were shown to be associated with the development of contralateral breast cancer, and the risk was strongest in women with more risk alleles.
