Association of circulating inflammation proteins and gallstone disease
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Jun 04, 2018
Liu Z, et al. - Researchers attempted to study the association of circulating inflammation proteins with the risk of gallstones. In 1997–2001, 13 cytokines (including 10 interleukins [ILs]) that have been associated with cancer in serum samples collected from 150 gallstone patients and 149 population-based controls from Shanghai, China were measured. They evaluated the relationships of each cytokine, categorized into quartiles and coded as a trend, with the risk of gallstones utilizing logistic regression models adjusted for potential confounders. According to the findings obtained, four circulating ILs that were associated with gallstones was found.
