Maeba R, et al. - In patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), the association of cholesterol efflux capacity of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) with clinical and biochemical parameters, including plasmalogens, was assessed. In advanced CKD patients, high plasmalogens concentrations in HDL may correlate with acceleration of cholesterol efflux and their decreased levels may promote atherosclerosis.
