Association of childhood obesity with female infertility in adulthood: A 25-year follow-up study
Fertility and Sterility Sep 12, 2018
He Y, et al. - In order to assess the association between childhood obesity and infertility in women's reproductive-aged life, researchers analyzed questionnaires completed by 1,544 girls at follow-up in 2004-2006 and/or 2009-2011 who were aged 7–15 years in 1985. Outcomes of this prospective longitudinal study suggests that childhood obesity before 12 years of age may increase the risk of female infertility in later life. They noted an increased risk of infertility among girls at both the lower and upper end of the body mass index (BMI) z score at ages 7–11 years.
