Association of bulimia nervosa with long-term risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality among women
JAMA Oct 24, 2019
Tith RM, Paradis G, Potter BJ, et al. - Researchers examined the association of bulimia nervosa with the long-term risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality in a longitudinal cohort study involving 416,709 women in Canada (including 818 women hospitalized for bulimia nervosa and 415,891 hospitalized for pregnancy-related events). Participants were followed up for 12 years. The investigators noted a significantly increased risk of hospitalization for cardiovascular disease and death up to 8 years after the index bulimia-related hospitalization of women, thus highlighting the possible value of closer management of this condition among women for the prevention of cardiovascular risk factors and disease.
