Association of BMI, smoking, and alcohol with multiple myeloma mortality in Asians: A pooled analysis of more than 800,000 participants in the Asia Cohort Consortium
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Oct 08, 2019
Ugai T, Ito H, Oze I, et al. - Via a pooled analysis of patient data from the Asia Cohort Consortium, researchers assessed the correlation of BMI, smoking, and alcohol intake with the risk of multiple myeloma mortality. The study sample consisted of 805,309 participants contributing 10,221,623 person-years of accumulated follow-up across Asia Cohort Consortium cohorts. The researchers noted a statistically significant dose-dependent association between BMI categories and the risk of multiple myeloma mortality, which was much more pronounced in women vs men. No significant correlations were identified between smoking or alcohol consumption and the risk of multiple myeloma mortality.
