Association of autoimmune hepatitis and cardiovascular disease
Digestive and Liver Diseases Jun 08, 2019
Persaud A, et al. - In this investigation involving 16,375 patients with autoimmune hepatitis, researchers explored the connection between autoimmune hepatitis and cardiovascular disease, as well as assessed the hospital burden with cardiovascular disease. A decreased association was found between autoimmune hepatitis and cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease, and peripheral vascular disease. In addition, coronary artery disease comprises 84% of the overall cardiovascular disease cohort and did not show the significantly increased length of stay or hospitalization cost. The authors concluded that the reduced association of autoimmune hepatitis with cardiovascular disease in etiology is probably multifactorial.
