Association of atrial fibrillation with white matter disease: The ARIC Study
Stroke Mar 22, 2019
Shao IY, et al. - Using multivariable linear regression models, researchers examined the connection between prevalent atrial fibrillation (AF) and white matter disease (WMD), a possible mechanism relating AF to cognitive impairment. The study sample consisted of participants in the ARIC-NCS (Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities–Neurocognitive Study) who had brain magnetic resonance imaging from 2011 to 2013. One hundred thirty-three participants had AF prevalent among 1,899 participants. According to this cross-sectional analysis, no link was found between prevalent AF and WMD.
