Association of atopic dermatitis with sleep quality in children
JAMA Pediatrics Mar 08, 2019
Ramirez FD, et al. - Using data of children enrolled in the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children, researchers determined if children with active atopic dermatitis (AD) have impaired the duration and quality of their sleep at multiple points throughout their childhood and whether the severity of the disease affects the outcomes of their sleep. In this longitudinal cohort study of 13,988 children, atopic dermatitis seemed to be associated throughout childhood with impaired sleep quality. Clinicians should, therefore, consider sleep quality among all children with AD, particularly those with comorbid asthma or allergic rhinitis and severe disease, and interventions are needed to improve sleep quality.
