Association of alcohol consumption with prevalence of fatty liver after adjustment for dietary patterns: Cross-sectional analysis of Japanese middle-aged adults
Clinical Nutrition Jul 31, 2019
Tajima R, et al. - Researchers conducted this investigation to assess the cross-sectional connection of alcohol intake with fatty liver after accounting for dietary patterns and obesity. The study sample consisted of 4,579 adults (aged 30 to 79 years) who partook in routine clinical examinations in St. Luke’s International Hospital, Japan. In 1,120 participants, fatty liver was ascertained. According to findings, alcohol intake was linked to fatty liver prevalence in a U-shaped manner. This connection was independent of underlying dietary patterns, while being sensitive to excessive intake of alcohol and obesity status, providing clinical implications for fatty liver prevention.
