Association of Achilles tendon thickness and LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia
Lipids in Health and Disease Jun 07, 2018
Wang B, et al. - Researchers explored the connection between Achilles tendon thickness (ATT) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels and risk factors of ATT in patients with hypercholesterolemia. From March 2014 to March 2015, 205 individuals, aged 18-75 years, were recruited. By Pearson’s correlation, the association between ATT and serum LDL-C levels were analyzed. By the logistic regression model, the risk factors of ATT were determined. In the hypercholesterolemia group, ATT was significantly higher than that of normal group and that of borderline LDL-C group, and was a positively correlated with serum LDL-C levels. Results suggested that ATT could serve as a good supplementary diagnostic index for hypercholesterolemia, as well as used for the assessment and management of cardiovascular disease.
