Association of ABC gene profiles with time to progression and resistance in ovarian cancer revealed by bioinformatics analyses
Cancer Medicine Mar 06, 2019
Seborova K, et al. - In the current study, researchers sought to assess new prognostic or predictive markers within ATP-binding cassette (ABC) gene family for ovarian cancer. Bioinformatics analyses of ABC gene expression data obtained from OC samples, covering all ABC subfamilies, were conducted. Using quantitative RT-PCR, they measured mRNA level in tumor tissues from OC patients. They applied bioinformatics analyses to two gene expression datasets (60 primary tumors and 29 peritoneal metastases). As per findings, the connection between two well-documented ABC genes and clinicopathological features—ABCB1 and ABCG2—was emphasized. Furthermore, a comparable connection also for several other ABC genes was also identified—ABCB11, ABCC4, ABCC10, ABCD3, ABCE1, ABCF1, ABCF2, and ABCF3. The results enhance the new clinically relevant knowledge in this oncology field and may assist in further exploration.
