Association between wait time and 30-day mortality in adults undergoing hip fracture surgery
JAMA Dec 02, 2017
Pincus D, et al. - This research was initiated in order to determine the optimal time window in which to conduct hip fracture surgery before a rise in the risk of complications, through the population-based wait-time data. The data unveiled that increased wait time correlated with a greater risk of 30-day mortality and other complications, among adults undergoing hip fracture surgery. It was also noted that a wait time of 24 hours could represent a threshold defining higher risk.
