Association between vitamin D and latent tuberculosis infection in the United States: NHANES, 2011–2012
Infection and Drug Resistance Jul 26, 2019
Wang CY, et al. - Researchers determined the link between vitamin D deficiency and latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in this study. From 2011 to 2012, LTBI was assessed and serum levels of vitamin D were measured in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The US cohort showed a significant correlation of a low serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D level with the risk of LTBI. Participants with serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels < 12 ng/mL and 12–19 ng/mL had a significantly higher adjusted risk of LTBI than those with levels ≥ 30 ng/mL.
