Agarwal S, et al. - Authors here performed a direct comparison of breast cancerÂspecific death of patients who underwent bilateral or unilateral mastectomy for unilateral breast cancer using a matched cohort analysis. Findings revealed no clinical or statistical significant breast cancerÂspecific mortality benefit with bilateral mastectomy over unilateral mastectomy. They recommend interpreting these findings in the context of patient preference and alternative benefits of bilateral mastectomy.
