Vaes B, et al. - The effect of frailty on the association between cardiovascular risk factors and mortality in the oldest old was investigated. The researchers found no association between traditional cardiovascular risk factors and mortality in very old subjects. For mortality, frailty was shown to be a strong risk factor in this age group. Frailty, however, could not be used to identify additional subjects who appeared to benefit more from cardiovascular risk management.
