Association between the dietary inflammatory index and all-cause mortality in colorectal cancer long-term survivors
International Journal of Cancer Dec 07, 2018
Ratjen I, et al. – In this study, researchers examined the association of postdiagnosis dietary inflammatory index (DII) scores with all-cause mortality among long-term survivors of colorectal cancer (CRC). Using dietary data of 1,404 CRC survivors collected at a median of 6 years after CRC diagnosis, they calculated DII scores and used multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazards regression models to estimate the hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals for the association of DII scores, modeled continuous and in quartiles, with all-cause mortality. Findings revealed no overall statistically significant association of postdiagnosis DII with all-cause mortality among CRC long-term survivors; however, there was evidence to suggest an association in select subgroups.
