Association between STAT4 polymorphisms and the risk of juvenile idiopathic arthritis in Han Chinese populations
Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology Online Mar 26, 2019
Huang X, et al. - A sum of 205 juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) cases and 267 healthy controls were quantified to study the significance of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of STAT4 in JIA with its identification in Han Chinese populations. They used MassArray high-throughput DNA analyzer and mass spectrometry to analyze 16 STAT4 SNP sites. They found an association of G allele of rs11893432 with an inclined risk of JIA in oligoarticular JIA, but not in polyarticular JIA or systemic JIA. When compared to the CC+CG motif, they observed a correlation between GG motif and oligoarticular JIA risk. A relationship between C allele of rs1018981 as well as the A allele of rs10931481 and a prominent risk of polyarticular JIA was reported.
