Association between soluble lectinlike oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 and coronary artery disease in psoriasis
JAMA Dec 07, 2019
Dey AK, Gaddipati R, Elnabawi YA, et al. - Researchers investigated the association between soluble lectinlike oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 (sLOX-1) levels and noncalcified coronary burden in patients with psoriasis. In a cohort stud at the NIH, they recruited 175 consecutive patients with psoriasis. Relative to age- and sex-matched controls, patients with psoriasis had elevated sLOX-1 levels, which were associated with noncalcified coronary burden independent of hyperlipidemia status. At 1 year, they observed a correlation of a reduction in sLOX-1 level with a reduction in noncalcified coronary burden among those who showed clinical improvement in psoriasis.
