Association between shift work and risk of metabolic syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases Jun 24, 2021
Yang X, Di W, Zeng Y, et al. - By analyzing relevant observational studies, researchers assessed the link between shift work and risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS). They explored PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases to identify 7,192 relevant articles. Eventually, they analyzed 23 articles (38 studies) via this meta-analysis. According to the findings, an elevation in the risk of MetS was shown to be brought about by shift work. MetS risk was observed to be higher in the shift workers who were 2-shift or 3-shift or women or Asian workers.
