Association between screen time exposure in children at 1 year of age and autism spectrum disorder at 3 years of age: The Japan Environment and Children’s Study
JAMA Feb 03, 2022
Researchers aimed at ascertaining the extent to which the duration of screen time in infancy is linked with the development of autism spectrum disorder at 3 years of age.
Data of a total of 84,030 mother-child dyads derived from a large birth cohort in Japan were analyzed.
Findings suggest a significant correlation of longer screen time at 1 year of age with autism spectrum disorder diagnosis at 3 years of age among boys, but not girls.
Researchers recommend providing guidance on appropriate screen time in infancy.
