JAMA Psychiatry Sep 02, 2017

Bromet EJ, et al. – The reason for this examination was to investigate the temporal association between psychotic experiences (PEs) and subsequent suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs) across the life span as well as the influence of mental disorders on these associations. Findings revealed that psychotic experiences were related to elevated odds of subsequent STBs across the life course that cannot be explained by antecedent mental disorders. This study highlighted the importance of including information about PEs in screening instruments designed to predict STBs.
