Association between psoriasis and dementia: A population-based case-control study
American Journal of Clinical Dermatology Feb 17, 2019
Lin CC, et al. - Using the Taiwan Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2000, authors studied 7,118 dementia patients to estimate the correlation between earlier diagnosed psoriasis and dementia. They noticed the ORs of prior psoriasis diagnosis with arthritis and without arthritis in the case group, respectively, were 1.95 and 1.44 times those of the control group after adjustments for socioeconomic variables, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and coronary heart disease. No significant variations in previous bullous pemphigoid were seen among the dementia and control groups. They concluded that prior psoriasis was more common among dementia patients vs those in the control group.
