Association between prostate MRI and observation for low-risk prostate cancer
Urology Aug 16, 2018
Leapman MS, et al. - Authors assessed the correlation between prostate MRI and the use of observation for men with low-risk prostate cancer (PCa). Findings suggested an association of having a prostate MRI with regard to PCa diagnosis with a nearly 2-fold greater odds of receiving observation vs definitive treatment. Following propensity score matching, they noted a correlation of receipt of prostate MRI surrounding the diagnosis of PCa with a significantly higher likelihood of observation. Results demonstrated the persistence of this effect in sensitivity analyses attempting to exclude treatment-planning MRIs.
