Association between parental marital conflict and Internet addiction: A moderated mediation analysis
Journal of Affective Disorders Jul 19, 2018
Gao T, et al. - In view of the observed influence of parental marital conflict on Internet addiction, researchers explored the mediating effect of depression and anxiety, as well as the role of peer attachment as a moderator in this relationship. They tested the moderated mediation analysis using data from a cross-sectional sample of 2,259 high school students who completed questionnaires regarding marital conflict, depression, anxiety and Internet addiction. As per findings, depression and anxiety mediated the effect of parental marital conflict on Internet addiction. In addition, they identified a moderating effect of peer attachment on the association between parental marital conflict and depression/anxiety.
