Association between pain phenotype and disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis patients: A non-interventional, longitudinal cohort study
Arthritis Research & Therapy Dec 12, 2019
ten Klooster PM, et al. - On the basis of the responses to the painDETECT-questionnaire, 180 established RA individuals were categorized with a nociceptive (61%) or a non-nociceptive (39%) pain phenotype in order to investigate relationships between pain phenotypes and long-term disease activity outcome and examine whether pain phenotype was related to comorbid conditions in RA individuals. Results of this longitudinal study revealed consistently worse long-term disease activity outcomes in RA people with a non-nociceptive pain phenotype which seemed to be principally because of variations in the subjective elements of the disease activity score.
