Pediatric Obesity | May 02, 2019
Deng X, et al. – Researchers performed a meta-analysis that included over 73,000 children from 18 studies to determine the link between overweight or obesity and the risk for childhood asthma and wheeze, while exploring potential causes of heterogeneity between studies. Literature search, selection of study, and extraction of data were carried out independently and in duplicate. Data were analyzed via STATA software. According to findings, overweight or obesity may be significant risk factors for childhood asthma and wheeze; in children who are overweight or obese, greater risk was observed in girls vs boys.
