Association between oncogenic status and risk of venous thromboembolism in patients with non-small cell lung cancer

Dou F, et al. - Researchers investigated the link between oncogenic status [the presence of epidermal growth factor receptor
(EGFR) or Kitten rat sarcoma (KRAS) mutations] and occurrence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in Chinese patients with newly diagnosed non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) followed for a maximum period of 4.5 years. Multivariable analysis including age, sex, tumor histology, tumor stage, performance status revealed the association of EGFR and KRAS status, EGFR wild-type with the increased risk of VTE. In other words, a negative association of EGFR mutations with the risk of VTE in Chinese patients with NSCLC was demonstrated in findings.
