Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology May 30, 2021
Choi IY, Choi YJ, Shin DW, et al. - Researchers used the Korean National Health Insurance System Cohort (2009-2014) to examine the association between obesity and the risk of gastric cancer (GC) based on menopausal status. They included 1,418,180 premenopausal and 4,854,187 postmenopausal females aged ≥ 40 years in this study. A mean follow-up of 7.2 years was performed. Findings revealed that among postmenopausal women, there was a positive link between the highest body mass index and waist circumference category and risk of GC, whereas such a relationship was not found in premenopausal women.
