Association between nasopharyngeal carcinoma and risk of optic neuropathy: A population-based cohort study
Head & Neck Aug 16, 2018
Fan CY, et al. - Among patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), authors evaluated what factors could predict optic neuropathy. In this analysis, they included 16,297 patients with NPC and 65,187 controls. They randomly frequency-matched each patient with NPC with 4 individuals without NPC by age, sex, and index year. As per data, a significantly higher risk of optic neuropathy was seen in patients with NPC vs the general population. Stroke and receipt of chemotherapy were among the independent risk factors for optic neuropathy among patients with NPC.
