Association between metabolic syndrome and Behçet's disease: A nationwide population‐based study
The Journal of Dermatology May 12, 2021
Lee J, Yoo S, Do Han K, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective cohort study to examine the connections between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and the risk of Behçet's disease (BD) using nationwide population data. The sample consisted of 10,505,818 Korean individuals who received health checkups in 2009–2012. Study participants were classified into a MetS and its components group and were followed up until 2016 for new‐onset BD. The authors discovered that patients with MetS had a lower incidence of BD. Furthermore, with the exception of high-density lipoprotein, the presence of MetS components was linked to the development of BD.
