Association between intensity of posttreatment surveillance testing and detection of recurrence in patients with colorectal cancer
JAMA May 31, 2018
Snyder RA, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study, experts aspired to explore whether the intensity of posttreatment surveillance is associated with time to detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) recurrence, the rate of recurrence, resection for recurrence, or overall survival. This study was conducted on eight thousand, five hundred twenty-nine patients with stage I, II, or III colorectal cancer. Time to detection of CRC recurrence was the primary outcome. Rates of resection for recurrent disease and overall survival were the included secondary outcomes. No significant association was found between surveillance intensity and detection of recurrence among patients treated for stage I, II, or III CRC.
