Association between intake of red and processed meat and the risk of heart failure: A meta-analysis
BMC Public Health Apr 03, 2019
Cui K, et al. - Researchers comprehensively assessed the risk of heart failure in relation to the consumption of red and processed meat. For this purpose, they assessed relevant publications identified from Web of Knowledge, PubMed, and Wan Fang Med Online databases; six scientific literatures met inclusion criteria and were included in this analysis. The summarized relative risk and 95% CI of the highest category of processed meat intake for heart failure risk was 1.23 vs the lowest category. Europeans, but not the Americans, demonstrated a significant link between processed meat intake and heart failure. According to findings, there was a correlation between the highest category of processed meat intake, other than red meat intake, and an increased risk of heart failure.
