Association between inflammatory diet pattern and risk of colorectal carcinoma subtypes classified by immune responses to tumor
Gastroenterology Sep 07, 2017
Liu L, et al. – The authors aimed to examine whether the association of a diet that promoted intestinal inflammation with the risk of colorectal carcinoma was stronger for tumors with lower lymphocytic reactions than tumors with higher lymphocytic reactions. This prospective cohort study correlated inflammatory diets with a higher risk of colorectal cancer subtype that contains little or no peritumoral lymphocytic reaction. They proposed that by suppressing the adaptive anti–tumor immune response, diet–related inflammation could contribute to the development of colorectal cancer.
