Association between hyperleptinemia and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with coronary artery disease
Therapeutics and Clinical Risk Management Oct 06, 2018
Chen MC, et al. - In patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), researchers assessed the connection between serum leptin and future cardiovascular (CV) events by analyzing data collected from 98 patients with CAD from January to December 2012. Incidences of major adverse CV events and hospitalization were included in the primary endpoint. Compared with patients without CV events, those with CV events had higher systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, C-reactive protein, and serum leptin levels. The authors suggested that serum leptin levels could serve as a biomarker for future CV events in this patient population.
