British Journal of Dermatology Nov 18, 2018
Patel KR, et al. - Experts ascertained the mental health (MH) disorders and cost-burden associated with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). They examined the data from the 2002-2012 National Inpatient Sample, comprising a ~20% sample of all US pediatric and adult hospitalizations. Increased odds of comorbid mental health disorders, overall, and multiple primary mental health admissions, in particular, which were associated with considerable excess costs were seen in the inpatients with HS. Compared to the patients without HS, MH disorders were much more common in inpatients with HS.
