Association between health insurance status and transfer of patients with return of spontaneous circulation after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
Resuscitation Mar 06, 2020
Park CH, et al. - Researchers examined patients with return of spontaneous circulation after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in the Republic of Korea for the factors related to the possibility of inter-hospital transfer to a heart attack center. The Korean national emergency medical service OHCA database from 2015 to 2017 yielded data from 7,804 eligible OHCA patients for this cross-sectional observational study. The analysis suggests a likely influence of socioeconomic status on the probability of transfer to a heart attack center after resuscitation. They observed less likelihood of being transferred among patients on medical aid vs patients with national health insurance. Lower risk of death and better neurologic recovery were observed in significant correlation with transfer to a heart attack center.
