Association between Helicobacter pylori -negative peptic ulcer disease and chronic urticaria: A retrospective observational study
Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology Nov 14, 2021
Zhang C, Wei Y, et al. - In this study, an elevated risk of chronic urticaria (CU) was observed in relation to Helicobacter pylori-negative peptic ulcer disease (PUD).
The link between Helicobacter pylori-negative PUD and CU was inquired in this retrospective study of patients without Helicobacter pylori infection categorized as those with PUD (n=40; the PUD cohort) and those without PUD (n=80; the control cohort).
A significantly higher number of patients in the PUD cohort had CU [25.00% (10/40)] vs that in the control cohort 8.75% (7/80).
A significant association of PUD with elevated risk of CU (odds ratio OR: 3.48) was revealed in logistic regression analyses, which was found to be consistent with that post-adjustment for potential confounding factors (OR 3.77).
