Association between Helicobacter pylori infection and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease: A systemic review and meta-analysis
European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology Jun 09, 2019
Ning L, et al. - Researchers examined the connection between H. pylori infection and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). After a comprehensive search of relevant studies up to November 2018, they extracted data on H. pylori infection in NAFLD patients and controls. Data revealed that the pooled overall OR of H. pylori infection in NAFLD patients vs controls was 1.36. According to pooled findings from studies that carried out multivariable analysis after adjusting for potential confounders, patients infected with H. pylori still had a greater risk of NAFLD. In patients with H. pylori infection, there is a 36% increased risk of NAFLD.
