Association between Helicobacter pylori exposure and decreased odds of eosinophilic esophagitis—A systematic review and meta-analysis
Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology Apr 15, 2019
Shah SC, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis of comparative studies, researchers explored the correlation between H pylori exposure and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) more clearly. Eleven observational studies were analyzed worldwide that included data on 377,795 people. According to results, H pylori exposure vs nonexposure was related to a 37% decrease in odds of EoE and a 38% decline in odds of esophageal eosinophilia. Evidence of a significant association was found between H pylori exposure and reduced odds of EoE in a comprehensive meta-analysis. To determine the mechanisms of this association, studies are required.
