Association between diffuse lymphocytic infiltration and papillary thyroid cancer aggressiveness according to the presence of thyroid peroxidase antibody and BRAFV600E mutation
Head & Neck Jun 29, 2018
Lee YK, et al. - Researchers characterized the relationship between diffuse lymphocytic infiltration (DLI) and papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) aggressiveness according to thyroperoxidase antibody (TPOAb) and B-type Raf (BRAF)V600E mutation positivity. Patients with PTC who underwent surgery were enrolled in this study. Regardless of TPOAb positivity, DLI was linked with multifocality. Authors noted DLI’s association with an indolent feature when TPOAb was positive, but it was associated with aggressive features in PTC with wild-type BRAF when TPOAb was negative. To define the clinical implication of lymphocytic infiltration found with PTC, the TPOAb and BRAF status could be helpful.
