Association between diabetes mellitus and lung cancer: Meta‐analysis
European Journal of Clinical Investigation Jul 17, 2020
Yi ZH, Luther Y, Xiong GH, et al. - Via this meta‐analysis of cohort investigations, whether the incidence of lung cancer is linked to the presence of diabetes mellitus (DM) was evaluated. PubMed, Embase and the Cochrane Library were systematically explored to identify relevant cohort studies. To compute the link between DM and the risk of lung cancer, relative risk was used. Per findings, there was little or no significant impact of DM on lung cancer risk. In subgroup analysis, smoker status was identified as a confounding variable that may bias the link between DM and the incidence of lung cancer. Overall, no significant effect of DM on lung cancer incidence was evident in men, but in women, a significant impact was seen.
