Chapelet G, et al. - Here researchers analyzed patients with extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing E. coli bacteremia to determine whether dementia and walking ability are associated with 30-day mortality. Findings revealed an independent association between 30-day mortality with dementia and reduced walking ability, in these patients. They recommended considering these criteria in the therapeutic management of patients with ESBL-producing E. coli bacteremia.
