Association between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and interleukins gene variants: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Cytokine Mar 14, 2019
Ahmadi A, et al. - Researchers examined the link between interleukin gene variations and COPD pathogenesis by analyzing association studies identified from PubMed and Google Scholar databases. Overall 26 different studies were included that assessed eight polymorphisms in four interleukin genes. In this updated meta-analysis, the association of IL1RN-rs2234663, IL6-rs1800795, -rs1800795 and IL13-rs1800925 variants with COPD was strongly supported. A remarkably higher risk of developing COPD was observed among CC genotype carriers of the IL6-rs1800795 vs GG carriers. A lower risk to develop COPD was seen in CC and CG genotypes carriers of the IL6-rs1800796.
