Association between chondrocalcinosis and osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases May 10, 2019
Wang Y, et al. - The existing literature on the associations between chondrocalcinosis (CC) and osteoarthritis (OA) at different joints was systematically examined. In addition, quantification of such associations was done through meta-analysis. Among the 14 identified studies, 12 studies were eligible for assessing the association between knee CC and knee OA; 3 studies were eligible for assessing the association between hip CC and hip OA; two studies were eligible for assessing the association between hand CC and hand OA. The analysis revealed that knee CC is strongly associated with knee OA. However, further study is required for clarifying the associations between CC and OA at the hip or hand.
