Association between carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae and death: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Soontaros S, et al. - Literature discussing the correlation between carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and mortality was summarized via this systematic review and meta-analysis. Searching EMBASE, International Pharmaceutical Abstract databases, PubMed, and Scopus, researchers included twenty-one studies in this meta-analysis. Findings revealed a CRE prevalence of 3.06%, as well as an increased risk of death in correlation to CRE. They emphasize the necessity for strict infection control measures.
